Lay Your Burdens Down
21 Days of Letting Go, One Breath at a Time
Thank you for being here. Because Life is Messy… is where grit meets grace, and the messy, beautiful complexity of life is honored. Comment, like 💙, or restack ♼ at the top of the post—and help this publication reach more people.
Driving through the valley this week, I noticed farmers burning piles of winter debris gathered from their fields.
Old branches. Broken stalks. The remnants of what the season has finished with.
The smoke rises slowly, clearing the land for spring planting.
In the Tantric tradition, there’s a similar understanding—that the fire of awareness can hold and transform anything we offer it. When we lay down even one small burden, we free energy to live, love, and respond more wisely. We call this making space for the Shakti—the vital life force that propels life forward.
This too is a form of resistance.
We carry so much. Old stories. Collective grief. Expectations that were never ours.
With Spring approaching, I wondered what might happen if, for a few days, we gave our own burdens somewhere to go.
Beginning tomorrow, March 17, for 21 days, I’ll send a tiny reflection—sometimes a haiku, sometimes just a sentence or two each morning. Each one a pause, a breath, a place to lay something down.
Nothing to achieve.
Nothing to fix.
Just a gentle daily reminder that you don’t have to carry everything alone.
You’re welcome to invite a friend to walk these days with us.
Let’s become lighter together.
If someone came to mind while reading this, feel free to pass it along.

Love this part, Paulette: " When we lay down even one small burden, we free energy to live, love, and respond more wisely."
