Still Becoming
Midyear Pause: Day 7
Friends,
As we come to the end of this week’s Midyear Pause, I’ve been sitting with the reflections you’ve shared.
What has surprised you?
What has sustained you?
What you’re ready to release?
What has shifted?
What is bringing you alive?
What is calling you forward?
Reading your comments, I’m struck by how many of us are standing on a threshold of some kind. Not necessarily dramatic change.
But that quiet place between what has been and what is still becoming.
The older I get, the less interested I am in fixing myself and the more interested I am in listening—to my life, my longings, my fears, my joys, and the wisdom that often arrives in whispers.
Which brings me to today’s reflection:
What quality is growing in you at this time?
Trust?
Patience?
Courage?
Compassion?
Curiosity?
Something else entirely?
I’d love to hear what comes up for you in the comments.
And one more thing.
This week has reminded me how much I value these deeper conversations. So many of your reflections point to themes I’d love to explore together in a more spacious way.
I’m considering offering a small gathering or workshop in the coming weeks for those who’d like to continue the conversation.
If that interests you, let me know in the comments.
For now, thank you for sharing this midyear pause with me.
May the second half of the year unfold with a little more clarity, a little more grace, and a little more trust in the beautiful mess of our precious lives.

Love the question —
What quality is growing in you at this time?
Just being willing to pause … and notice this moment’s cloud, drifting thru the sky of my inner awareness.
So far … all are conditioned responses I’ve been acting out, most learned over 60 years ago .. and most of those quite inappropriate & useless now.
I am discovering a perceptible difference
between
the practical, useful responses (the light is green so step down on the gas … etc) … thoughts that are nonverbal actions, quickly coming & going, leaving no trace
and
the noisy, word-laden responses that are part of a very long, ongoing inner conversation with others that are dreamed up in my mind … responses that follow a very familiar, almost ancient path … to nowhere, over & over
Rather deeply interesting to me:
this dream happening as I walk around doing things, seems very similar to the dream I occasionally notice as I am sleeping in bed.
And … yes … a periodic zoom gathering sounds WONDERFUL … perhaps a benefit of a paid $ubscription to your Substack?
Right now looking forward to family ties, as we approach the solstice.
