Dear Readers,
As we prepare to close the chapter on 2024, I want to share a moment of wonder from a rainy Oregon afternoon.
It’s the cozy sit-in front of the fireplace during the rainy season here, and while I sometimes miss Arizona’s warm, sunny days, I’m deeply grateful for the four distinct seasons that now grace my life—and for the improved health, I’ve found in this new home.
Sunday felt like one of those gray, reflective days. But during a lull in the rain, my husband and I took our little Saoirse to the dog park for a romp off-leash with her friends.
As I strolled along, the sky burst into a beautiful display of blue, yellow, and pink ribbons. I couldn’t help but stop, a joyful smile spreading across my cheeks. Around me, others in the park paused, too, their faces lifted in shared amazement. A stunning rainbow arched gracefully across the gray, misty sky, filling the moment with a sense of pure wonder and delight.
Adbhuta is one of the nine Rasas I’ve shared with you before. Rasas encapsulate the essence of our emotions, giving color, texture, and meaning to our daily lives. Adbhuta, the Rasa of wonder and astonishment, invites us to explore the magic hidden in the ordinary.
No matter our age, there’s always joy in marveling at a rainbow’s beauty and imagining that elusive pot of gold at its end.
Standing there among unfamiliar faces, sharing smiles and nods of appreciation, I realized that you, my dear readers, are part of my pot of gold. Each of you enriches this shared journey with your presence, adding a touch of brilliance to our collective quest for meaning amid life’s complexities.
Even on your darkest, rainiest days, may you find moments of astonishment, fascination, and wonder in your precious, messy, beautiful life.
With love and appreciation,
Paulette 🌈
