Paulette, you have encouraged me to watch a documentary, that is not on my watch list. I loved the quote from Women who run with wolves…we are experienced in adapting to constantly changing circumstances. 💖
Paulette, Thanks for this thought-provoking post! We will all have to make this decision at some point, and it's good to think about it deeply beforehand. I don't know whether Celine Dion made the right decision; it's highly personal. How can we know when it's the right time for a person to let go? I didn't see her performance, which I'm sure gave clues to her case. We all have a purpose, but at some point, we must let go of that worldly purpose and move into renunciation or suffer for not doing so.
Sandra, as always, you offer such wisdom and an added perspective. I agree with you that we will all be making these decisions for ourselves. And how to let go of these worldly aspirations and life is such a personal journey. Thank goodness for the practices that help each of us do that - and still, it’s not always easy or clear. Thank you for your thoughts.
This is such a thought-provoking essay, leaving me much to think about. I just can't bring myself to watch the documentary about Celine. I don't think that will change, but I will watch her performance at the games. Thanks for sharing your insights! 💛
I understand about not having the desire to watch the documentary, Sue. It's a lot! The performance - well spectacular. Let me know when you do, and what you think. How you felt. Always grateful for your support and comments.
I can well imagine that it's a difficult documentary to watch. I also can't bring myself to watch Michael J. Fox's documentary. I'll let you know once I see Celine's performance.
With the level of discord we live in, it’s wise to insulate ourselves, not isolate, from certain experiences we know will add to our overburdened nervous systems. Skillful choice, Sue.
Knowing our limits, yes, good choices. Even my daughter told me about the interview, but said, "No, mom, I don't think this one is for you," which made me smile. I had already decided that on my own.
Your post finally sent me to watch the performance by Celine Dion. (I haven’t been tuning in to Paris.) That was quite spectacular, and I think your point about the singer and the president is very astute. No one can do more than advise about someone else’s purpose and path. Both of these choices are striking and bespeak people tuned in to their deepest self.
This was one of those posts that I hesitated before publishing. Asking myself if my point was clear, etc. - I appreciate your reading and giving your feedback.
Thank you for letting me know that the post inspired you to watch the performance. It really was spectacular. It's fascinating to observe others who are tuned in to their deepest self. Such a learning.
Thank you for reading and commenting, Jeanine. I appreciate your feedback! It was one of those posts that I agonized over, hoping that my point was clear and not too circuitous.
